**Job Purpose**
Your role in this project will be to gather data from stakeholders, involved in reflective writing for assessment, from across the university. This will be in two ways. Firstly, it will be from staff who set reflective writing assignments, in order to identify, for example, their reasons for setting them and expectations from written submissions. Secondly, it will be from students who have undertaken reflective written assignments, in order to identify key themes in their experiences.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
To perform the following activities in conjunction with and under the guidance of the Project Lead and Project Contributors:

- Assist and contribute to the delivery of the research project in accordance with project objectives.
- Design quantitative and qualitative data collection tools.
- Take a lead role in organising participation in social research project and liaise with participants if necessary.
- Take a lead role in the collection of data, documenting the process and maintaining records and databases.
- Take a lead role in the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data using an appropriate social research data analysis approach.
- Handle personal data in line with GDPR requirements.
- Undertake all other reasonable duties in relation to the output as required by the Project Lead and Project Contributors.
These key tasks are not intended to be exhaustive but simply highlight a number of major tasks which the staff member may reasonably be expected to perform.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**-A2 Sufficient depth of knowledge of social research methods and techniques
A3 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role.
A4 Proven experience of managing small scale research projects

**Desirable**
B1 An awarded [or recently submitted or near completion] PhD in a relevant area
B2 Interest in reflective academic writing practices
B3 Familiarity in both quantitative and qualitative methods
B4 Knowledge of assessment practices at UofG

**Skills**

**Essential**
C1 Ability to analyse and organise resources.
C2 Strong organisational skills and a proven ability to prioritise work efficiently and multi-task whilst producing work of a high standard
C3 Clear understanding of standards and regulations of conduct in the role
C4 Excellent inter-personal communication skills to work as part of a team and to communicate effectively with research participants
C5 Proven ability to work to and within deadlines, managing a number of complex tasks and processes simultaneously, to a high degree of accuracy
C6 Proven capability of working autonomously and proactively using own initiative to resolve problems, consulting with colleagues as appropriate

**Desirable**
D1 Familiarity with data analysis software

**Essential**
E1 Sufficient relevant research experience appropriate to an early career researcher
E2 Project management experience
E3 Experience of project delivery, ideally within a social science setting
E4 Experience of working inter-culturally
E5 Experience of effective and professional electronic communications

**Desirable**
D1 Relevant experience of a Higher Education environment.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 6, £30,502 - £34,308 per annum pro rata.
This post is 150 hrs over 5-month period.
