**Tutor Job Description**

**Line Manager: Vice Principal**

**Main Purpose of the Job**:

- To promote and support the vision, culture and ethos of the college.
- Produce outstanding planning, assessment and teaching in order to secure the highest standards of learning and achievement for all learners.
- Liaise effectively with colleagues to ensure consistency of approach in teaching and learning across the whole college.

**General Professional Duties**
- Work with leaders and colleagues to develop an innovative and creative curriculum designed around the individual needs of our learners.
- Provide an excellent role model for learners and staff, through classroom practice and behaviour that sets a high standard for others.
- Motivate, challenge and inspire colleagues to provide outstanding provision for our learners, leading to outstanding outcomes.
- Develop a coherent, shared vision for learning through teamwork, collaboration and sharing of best practice, ensuring a consistent approach to teaching.

Tutor Job Description
- This Job Description allocates duties and responsibilities, but does not specify the amount of time to be spent on particular duties and responsibilities. This will be negotiated with the Principal / Vice Principal according to nationally recognised guidance. _

**Job Purpose**
- To actively promote the college’s mission statement and embrace and nurture the ethos of the college as described in the mission statement and core objectives
- To continuously develop practice ensuring the highest standards of teaching at all times
- To take a key role in curriculum design and implementation.
- To deliver the curriculum through sessions that motivate, challenge and inspire learning.
- To be a positive role model for all learners within the college community
- To have tutorial responsibilities for a group of nominated learners

**Teaching Responsibilities**
- To be actively responsible for the safeguarding of all learners.
- To support and promote positive behaviour amongst the learners in accordance with college procedures and to encourage good practice with regard to attendance, punctuality, behaviour and standards of work.
- To uphold the ethos, aims and values of the college, its policies and codes of practice at all times and in all circumstances.
- To develop, implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the need of each learner.
- To create achievable and aspirational targets derived from thorough and robust assessments.
- To monitor, evaluate, record and report the overall progress and development of learners.
- To facilitate and encourage learning experiences which provide learners with the opportunity to enjoy their learning, engage with the college and achieve their potential.
- To consistently demonstrate high standards of practice which tangibly contribute to raising standards of attainment.
- To evaluate teaching and learning and use this analysis to identify effective practice for implementing a variety of teaching strategies and areas for professional improvement.
- To develop appropriate learning programmes for the learners in all areas of the curriculum.
- To teach groups and classes in the college as is reasonably requested in accordance with the centre timetable and the relevant paragraphs of the current Teachers’ Pay and Conditions document.
- To set clear expectations and goals for support staff and deploy them effectively.
- To work and communicate effectively with all stakeholders including families, employers and external agencies, to secure positive outcomes for learners.
- To work effectively with a range of appropriate agencies to support learners’ well-being.
- To promote independence and communication skills as appropriate for each learner.
- To ensure that all health and safety responsibilities are upheld at all times.
- To be accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct as per the teachers-standards:

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£41,333.00 per year
