MJM Marine is an award-winning global Company, based in Northern Ireland, specialising in the fit out of cruise liners. The Company is the recipient of an Investors in People Gold award. An opportunity has arisen to Lead the Design department in all aspects of projects and people management.

**The following reflect the main tasks associated with the position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive**:

- Lead, manage & develop the Design Department to ensure that the Department employs best practice in design activities
- Oversee all aspects of design team projects to include assisting Designers to define client intent and trouble shooting where required
- Provide advice to other MJM departments on the design aspect of projects from initial tender through to completion
- Engage with clients to ensure design expectations are fulfilled to include attending surveys and project installations where required and communicating with clients throughout the project duration
- Understand the capacity requirements of projects and work to ensure Design capacity is met
- Actively participate in recruitment related duties for new Design Department employees
- Ensure that the training needs of Design Department employees are met
- Manage the performance of Design Department employees through KPIs, reviews, appraisals, coaching and mentoring
- Oversee the development of Design Department students on the Company’s Navigate programme
- Oversee the management of the Polish Branch design department
- Provide reports as required to Management
- Monitor business satisfaction with the Design department ensuring departmental output meets all other department needs
- Ensure departmental document control is effective including the development and maintenance of a standard design library
- Develop continuous improvement processes, methods, techniques etc which will assist with the Design Department
- Worldwide travel in accordance with the roles commercial functionality which will involve working for periods of time on sites throughout the world

**The ideal person will have**:

- Experience of successfully managing Design aspects of projects and people management
- Ability to work on own initiative with direct experience of trouble shooting to ensure the successful completion of a project
- Excellent communication, negotiating, influencing, analytical, problem solving, planning and organising skills
- Advanced knowledge of design software applicable to design for production
