A global engineering / manufacturing group, are seeking to recruit a product manager to join their engineering team. As market leaders in their manufacturing sector they work closely with their customers in developing technically engineered products that areused within multiple sectors from automotive to aerospace. This product manager (Carbon Fibre Engineering) position requires a mechanical engineering degree / qualifications, along with 3+ years experience in a similar role, where you have been instrumentalin product development, creating new concepts, new product design, testing concepts, customer management and ideally experience in carbon fibre engineering. **Responsibility overview of the Product Manager
**Responsible for running a niche engineering area where they are experiencing considerable growth and demands from their customers for this cutting edge technology. This role will involve managing the production planning, R&D of products, testing ofproducts, close customer liaison and collaboration.
- Gain a deep understanding of the market and current product offer, working closely with customers to identify new ideas and opportunities
- Delivering specific R&D projects to support new and future products
- Research / analyse consumer needs and turn into actionable insights
- Supporting the development of an innovation pipeline based on customer insights and technical developments in market
- Liaising closely with suppliers and visiting supplier's facilities where necessary.
- Developing detailed concept / innovation briefs, outlining requirements of required prototypes
- Working with test house(s) and research establishments to ensure new materials and technologies are tested and validated
- Ensure that all technical information and copy created is correct in terms of any claims made of sustainability, performance, or origin.
- Work collaboratively with Manufacturing / Purchasing, quality & compliance and other NPD teams
- Simulate new assembly projects, determine correct fields to validate assembly and determine if project is feasible.

**Skills and experience required for the Product Manager**:

- Demonstrable experience as a Product Manager in a technical engineering environment
- Mechanical Engineering degree / or equivalent qualifications including hands on engineering experience ideally within carbon fibre engineering
- Desirable; Research & Development experience in fiber / resins including testing
- Desirable; Automotive research and development activities
- Previous new product engineering or R&D experience within technical engineering sectors such as aerospace, automotive and or complex design challenges
- Strong design systems experience
- Creative thinker with the ability to think out of the box
- Strong commercial acumen / awareness and ability to create productive relationships with customers
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to communicate a clear brief and ensure deliverables are met
- Putting the the customer at the heart of everything they do
- Shows determination in driving the function to deliver taking responsibility for performance
