We have an AWEsome opportunity for a Cost Controller to join us at the AWE.

This is an exciting time to join us as a Cost Controller as we begin a once in a generation programme of work in support of the United Kingdom’s Continuous at Sea Deterrent.

We are located in the countryside between Reading and Basingstoke with onsite parking. There are good bus links between Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury.

Salary band at starts £35,810 - if you can impress us with an AWEsome array of Cost Engineering capability and an abundance of charm, there is plenty of scope to negotiate on this figure.

As a Cost Controller you’ll provide a project cost control service to a variety of projects within the company.

We are looking for people who have a wonderful blend of AWEsome IT ability along with innate people skills. You will need to engage, negotiate and influence people across the business so if you can add charm to your key attributes, you could be who we are looking for.

You’ll be an integral part of our Project Cost Controls Team, responsible for contributing to the production of project budgets, monthly cost reports, cost forecasts, assessments of value of work in progress and supplier value of work done.

You’ll also have input into the investment approval and change control process, risk and opportunity process and peer reviews.

We would like you to have experience of implementing best practice cost engineering processes and tools including:

- Budget production and baseline maintenance
- Cost Forecasting
- Change Control
- Variance Analysis
- Cost and Performance Reporting
- Knowledge and experience of forms of contract e.g., NEC3
- Knowledge and experience of working with Earned Value Management (EVM) processes and techniques
- Fantastic communication skills including networking, influencing and stakeholder management

Opportunities will also exist to gain experience of Project Planning utilising Primavera as AWE’s primary project scheduling tool as well as Project Controls Management.

You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain Security/ Developed Vetting Clearance (funded by us) in order to start with us in this role. It can take several months for clearance to come through.

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

This role has a requirement to be on site several days a week and sometimes more depending on operational need.
