**This role entails**

The Pensions team in Preston are excited to be on the lookout for a new member of their collaborative team, initially on a 12 month fixed term basis. The incumbent staff member has taken a Secondment opportunity within the business for a minimum of 12 Months however, this could potentially extend. Your responsibility as the Payroll Administrator is to provide support to Payroll the Manager to ensure smooth running of all accounting procedures and the effective and efficient running of the monthly pensioner payroll

**Key responsibilities**:

- Assisting with the annual pension increase exercise
- Running monthly payroll including sending the BACS and RTI file.
- Reconciling the payroll
- Raising deduction cheques and PAYE payments to Inland Revenue including all other 3rd party payments.
- Ensure pensioner payroll manuals are updated regularly
- Maintains high quality payroll data on the pensions system and ensures regular validations are undertaken.
- Updating payroll with address, bank changes, savings and deductions.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analysing information.
- Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Support the Annual Events & Project team with UAT testing with changes on the Pensions System
- Work in conjunction with the Annual Events & Project team on an ad hoc project to provide necessary administration support.

**To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the Minimum role criteria**:

- Must have previous administration experience, ideally within a payroll or pension environment
- Must be numerate and able to work to a high degree of accuracy
- Must be proficient in Microsoft, Excel and Word

**The Key role criteria is as follows**:

- A full understanding of daily, weekly and monthly activities
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive attitude
- To be able to work on their own initiative, to be accurate and have attention to detail.
- To be able to deliver reports at requested deadlines.
- Ability to organise/prioritise work and identify business priorities using own initiative and with mínimal supervision
- Must be resilient and flexible
