The role
The Student Success Unit is responsible for developing and supporting the delivery of an outstanding and distinctive student experience so that all students, including lifelong learners have a high-quality University experience. Working within the Lifelong Learning and Apprenticeship Hub (LLAH) you will be part of supporting the delivery of the University’s commitment to lifelong learning and CPD and help with the creation of strong links and partnerships with businesses regionally, nationally and internationally.
Reporting to the Apprenticeship Business Engagement Manager, you will support:
- Growing sales of higher and degree apprenticeships via lead generation and business engagement
- The administrative processes within the hub
- The delivery of marketing and communications to businesses
- The delivery of business and colleague facing events
To be successful in this role you should be a Newcastle University Graduate with an interest and some experience in sales, communications and meeting KPIs. Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, relationship building and process implementation would all be beneficial to the role.
This role is a graduate internship open to recent graduates of Newcastle University.
Interviews will be held on 19 June 2024.
This role is fixed term for a period of 12 months.
Key Accountabilities
- Work towards clear KPIs and targets and reporting back to the Apprenticeship Business Engagement Manager on progress against goals.
- Act as the first point of contact for apprenticeship sales enquiries, and arrange sales calls and consultation meetings, escalating to the Apprenticeship Engagement Manager as appropriate.
- As required, assist in arranging and supporting partner visits and engagement events. Assist the Apprenticeship Business Engagement Manager with gathering and reporting on market intelligence regarding regional and national events.
- Using search engines (including LinkedIn) to research new prospects for business engagement and contacting them in a systematic and strategic manner, with a goal to grow new business.
- Use CRM systems, including APTEM and Dynamics, to record the opportunity pipeline (from qualify to eligibility) in an accurate and detailoriented manner. This includes managing records relating to apprenticeships and assisting in the preparation of project reports and project documentation (such as contracts), with support from the Operations and Compliance
Manager.
- With support from the Apprenticeships Business Engagement Manager, work closely with the communications team to develop materials for business engagement. Prepare communications and web-based content, as well as in-house materials (e.g., flyers, PowerPoint slides etc).
- With training and direction from the Apprenticeship Business Engagement Manager, support in conducting sales calls and consultation meetings.
- To take an active role in supporting with the successful on-boarding of Apprentices into the University, ensuring the relationships with the Apprentices, Employers and University staff are maintained satisfactorily.
- Assist the Apprenticeship Business Engagement Manager with the planning and delivery of internal events such as business breakfast events,
employer workshops and conferences.
- Contribute to such other relevant duties and activities as may be identified by the Director or relevant senior managers to aid the delivery of the University’s strategic objectives.
