- Job description- We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and inspiring individual to take on an exciting new role as the Water Company Senior Environment Officer to cover the East Anglian area.
You will
- lead on Water Company compliance and regulation and be the point of contact for Water Company related queries across the Land and Water teams in East Anglia.
- have a good knowledge of incident management and engage with important stakeholders and customers.
- work closely with the Team Leaders and with the National Water Company project leads on emerging water company regulatory work.
- be the Area lead on several different Water Company workstreams including operator self-monitoring and audits, therefore experience of water quality enforcement and compliance is required.

Part of your role will be to act as a mentor to Environment Officers with their water company regulatory work.
This is a new and exciting role and will require a self-reliant person who is happy to work independently across a wide topic area based on the local priorities and developing the role going forward.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The post is full-time although requests for other work patters will be considered.
The team- Your work will cover the whole of East Anglia, but you will report directly to one of the Land and Water Team Leaders.
The Land and Water teams perform regulatory and enforcement roles covering water quality, incident management and agriculture.
Whichever team you are based in, they will be passionate about the environment and protecting some of the most sensitive and well used areas in the UK, undertaking work that is interesting and varied.
- Experience/skills required-
- 1. Lead on all aspects of water quality Water Company work across the East Anglia Area;
2. Influence compliance with EA policy/legislation/best practice ways of working and contribute to the delivery of business plans;
3. Undertake water company water quality work, be the point of contact for compliance issues e.g. Operator Self Monitoring and Event Duration Monitoring.
4. Lead on other water company technical water quality issues as they arise e.g. Local Enforcement Positions and enforcement witness statements;
5. Participate in the Areas Water Quality Technical Group, driving forward water company water quality compliance;
6. Have strong influencing and communication skills;
7. Work collaboratively with the Water Quality Senior Environment Officer's and other teams across East Anglia to improve and protect the environment.
8. Contribute information and participate in National water quality water company projects and task groups.
A full UK driving licence is essential
