**Kitchen Assistant/Cook**

At Black Swan Care Group, we are currently looking for a kitchen assistant/cook to work in one of our residential care facilities, Beccles Care Home on a full time, 40h/pw, permanent basis, £12.00 per hour.

Beccles Care Home, located in the heart of Beccles in North Suffolk, provides short-term, respite care and longer term support for older people, including people living with dementia.

**Responsibilities of a kitchen assistant/cook**:

- Prepare residents meals and maintain a well-balanced nutritious diet (Taking into consideration special dietary needs and requirements as set out in Residents Care Plans, and residents menu choices)
- Ensure food stock supplies are monitored and deliveries are correct, and all food are temperature probed, recorded, stored correctly and stock rotated.
- Maintain a high standard of food preparation and implement the requirements set out by the Environment Health and Local Authority for the Home, the Food Safety Act 1990, and the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2005. (Personal appearance must be of an acceptable level. Uniform provided must be worn, hair covered or tied back. Sensible enclosed non-slip shoes to be worn.)

**Responsibilities of a kitchen assistant/cook**:

- Unloading fresh supplies and organising the stockroom. Checking sell-by dates and rotating food stock. Reviewing kitchen inventory and determining what items are needed.
- Washing, peeling, and preparing food ingredients and using equipment such as mixers, special knives and cutters.
- Cleaning kitchen appliances, ovens, dishes and pans and observing cooking times and correct temperatures.

**Requirements of a kitchen assistant/cook**:

- Qualified and experienced to cook and prepare food in a kitchen setting
- Forward thinking
- Team player
- Availability to work every other weekend
- Flexibility with working hours
