**SUMMARY**
A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Accountant (AA) to join the Finance team based in St Helens. ABP is a supplier of roofing materials and rainwater products to the construction industry. The successful applicant will report to the Divisional Financial Controllerand will ideally:

- be studying towards an accounting qualification with the goal of becoming a qualified accountant.
- have good computer skills and, specifically, a sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- be personable and have good communication skills.
- be flexible and willing to get involved in all aspects of the Accounts function.

**SPECIFIC ROLES**
Initially the principal roles of the AA will be responsible for the following tasks:

- **Management Accounts & Reconciliations**:

- Fixed Assets
- Post monthly fixed asset journals and produce month end reports
- Supervise annual fixed asset verification exercise and process results
- Sales Ledger & Purchase Ledger Reconciliations
- Intercompany Balance Reconciliations
- Update prepayments schedules and generate journals for posting
- Calculate and post journals for various other provisions - e.g. credit note provision, various accruals, purchase rebates
- Updating and managing all other various balance sheet reconciliations
- **Sales & Reporting**:

- Generation of sales invoices daily.
- Weekly sales and cash reporting.
- Preparation of daily sales reports.
- Preparation of carbon footprint reports and submission of data
- Preparation and submission of ad-hoc forms for Office of National Statistics
- **Other Tasks**:

- Administration of small company car fleet
- Involvement in bi-annual stocktakes
- Involvement in upcoming packaging regulations

In addition to the above the AA will often be required to support the other members of the finance team by performing ad hoc tasks as required, particularly where cover is required for members of staff away on holiday.
**OTHER POINTS**:
Over time, as their knowledge of the business grows, this individual would be expected to take on additional responsibilities for more complex areas of the management accounts process e.g. stock reconciliations, calculation of stock provisions, calculationof sales rebates.
The successful applicant will be within easy commuting distance of the St Helens premises where they will be based. Holding a full driving licence would be an advantage and possession of own vehicle would be ideal.
