Jonathan Lee Recruitment are looking for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to work for the market leader, designing solutions that make for fast, simple and effective testing of fire detectors.. Please see below the details and requirements for the role.

OVERVIEW

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- To produce and support electrical / electronic designs for a range of products, from initial concept through to production
- Researching design options whilst considering the constraints of time, cost and fit to the company's manufacturing process
- Development of design concepts into working prototypes, using prototyping capabilities in house and suppliers as appropriate
- Design of production parts, using knowledge and experience to produce designs that are of good quality, functionally excellent and simple to manufacture
- Working with staff, suppliers, and customers in support of the company's developments, products and services
- Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing to regulatory guidelines
- Leading FMEA and design reviews; with the V&V team, creating and executing structured test plans
- Leading investigations into current product issues, making proposals and implementing subsequent solutions
- Keeping ordered, accurate and complete records of work, and writing reports where required
- Maintaining an awareness of the company's markets, customers and their technologies
- Maintaining an awareness of the available and appropriate technologies for the company's use
- Engagement and leadership in the NPD process and methods, and reporting of status to key stakeholders including Executive level review
- Leadership and ownership of the design direction and project progress within electrical / electronic aspects of product design
- Mentor and advise other electrical / electronic engineers in the team

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

- Electronics based Engineering Degree or equivalent qualifications
- Proven track record in product design from concept through to post launch support
- Use of EDA software for schematic capture and PCB layout to IPC standards.
- Electronic assembly and prototyping.
- Design and development of circuits for small/med volume manufacture
- Understanding user requirements and concept generation
- Problem solving, root cause analysis
- System level design
- Working to good engineering practice, regulatory and safety standards
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and should be able to converse with all levels of personnel and external customers and suppliers

DESIRABLE:

- Knowledge of fire detection principles and detectors/systems
- Altium EDA
- Multisim / Ultiboard
- C - Programming for embedded systems
- C# / MFC - Programming for Windows
- Technical report writing
