Dundee, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

NHS Tayside’s Neuroprogressive Dementia Network seeks to appoint a 0.6 WTE Clinical Fellow (ST Equivalent) in Clinical Research on a Fixed Term Contract (6-12 months).

NHS Research Scotland’s Neuroprogressive and Dementia Network is funded by the Chief Scientist Office to promote a culture of clinical research into disorders such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and Huntington’s’ disease. Dr. Tom Russ is the National Network’s Clinical Research Champion and Ms Jacqui Kerr manages the National Network. There are sites across several health boards, and they are characterised by multi-disciplinary teams promoting and engaging people in clinical research close to home. NHS Tayside’s team is based at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. Clinical trials are predominantly delivered within the modern and purpose-built Clinical Research Centre. The team comprises of medical, nursing staff, clinical studies officers and administrative support.

Our aim is to raise public and professional awareness of the opportunities for people in Tayside to participate in clinical research. We deliver a variety of observational and interventional clinical trials. Currently we are working on studies in relation to all the disorders noted above. There are always new studies in the pipeline and NHS Tayside’s Research and Development Department are an invaluable source of expertise, support and ensure governance around this process.

Patient safety and satisfaction is at the core of our research activity, and we are committed to ensuring that all members of the team receive training and support to deliver clinical research to the highest standard. Although this is not a recognised training post the post holder will receive regular support and supervision from an experienced Clinical Supervisor.

The post holder must (at the time of commencement of employment) have full registration with the GMC and a license to practice. Applicants will also at time of appointment have recently completed a UK based Foundation Programme or have evidence of equivalent foundation competencies.

Applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full time.
