**What is expected of Readers / Scribes**

Readers are present in exams to ensure that students who have difficulty with reading or are unable to read, can have both the exam information and the written answer script read out to them. As well as reading information aloud to the student, the reader and the student may have some discussion during the exam, if for example there is a need to converse about the pace or where the student requires the reader to re-read either the exam question and protocols, or the answer script. Readers cannot give advice, information or opinions about exam questions and answers or interpret information. Someone who provides reading support may often scribe for the student as well, if this is an additional adjustment for the student.

Scribes are present in exams to ensure that students who have difficulty with writing or are unable to write, can have their exam answers recorded for them. As well as writing the student’s exam answers, the scribe and student may need to have some discussion during the exam, if for example there is a need to converse about the pace, about what information is to be recorded, or where the student requires a change to be made to the answer information they have given. Scribes will record information by using a PC / laptop. Scribes cannot give advice, information or opinions about exams or interpret information.

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- To maintain a professional role as an Examination Reader / Scribe and be aware of the need to always maintain this positive but professional working relationship with the student.
- Deliver support according to Theorise and each of our clients’ guidelines and codes of conduct.
- Manage paperwork effectively, i.e. completing time sheets and any reports required.
- You will be expected to represent Theorise in a professional manner, this includes adhering to our policies regarding confidentiality and safeguarding.

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience required**
- We expect you to have good communication and organisational skills, a willingness to support students with particular needs, and an approachable, patient and understanding manner.
- Experience of supporting examinations or working with students in a higher education environment is highly desirable.
- Have a good typing speed - able to produce accurate typed answers.
- Accurate spelling and grammar skills.
- Ability to work under time constraints.

This examination is due to take place on February 7th in the EC3R post code of London so the ability to travel there is essential. The examination is scheduled to start at 2pm.

**Job Type**: Temporary contract

**Salary**: £17.50 per hour
