About the role

The Dickson Poon School of Law is seeking to appoint a Reader in International Finance Law who will contribute to the teaching, research and other academic and professional activities at the Dickson Poon School of Law.

The successful candidate’s principal teaching contribution will be International Finance Law in our postgraduate programmes.

The successful candidate/s will be actively involved in the administration and academic life of a world leading law school, and will carry out administrative duties in the Dickson Poon School of Law.

This is a full time and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

Key responsibilities
  • To take a key role in planning, organising and delivering international finance law at postgraduate level, including the law and regulation relating to international financial markets, such as share issuance, syndicated loans, corporate bonds and convertibles and warrants.
  • To undertake high quality research relevant to international finance law.
  • To act as module coordinator for one or more of the courses and supervise LLM dissertations.
  • To be prepared to lead the development of new, innovative programmes in law, including online courses.
  • To carry out leadership and administrative duties as requested by the Executive Dean.
  • Contribute to the holistic development of our students through pastoral care and engagement in student experience activities, including by acting as a personal tutor.
  • Participate in student development processes, including student progress monitoring, education assessment and examination.
  • Undertake marking duties during assessment periods.
  • Be responsible for marking formative and summative work and to provide timely and effective feedback working closely with module leaders and programme directors and the professional services programme and assessments team.
  • Accept leadership and administrative responsibilities, such as in School education or research roles, and in School or university governance structures, as commensurate with the candidate’s seniority and experience.
  • Engage in professional development to further the post-holder’s career.
