The Department of Economics and Related Studies is ranked among the top 100 economics departments in the world and top 10 in the UK. We are seeking to appoint a Teaching & Scholarship Lecturer to contribute to teaching in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The post is available from 1 August 2023.

Your role will be to consolidate and extend the international reputation of the department within a world-class and vibrant teaching environment.

You will have a strong commitment to the promotion of excellence in teaching and learning with the potential to shape practice across the Department and beyond. We offer a collegiate, supportive environment, led by a community of academics who are leaders in their fields, and are dedicated to delivering high quality research, teaching and outreach.

You will develop and lead lectures and seminars to undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervise students, set and mark assessments and examinations, supervise and mark BSc and MSc dissertations and undertake a range of associated administrative/managerial responsibilities.

A PhD, or equivalent professional experience, in Economics or a related discipline is essential.

**Role**:

- Design and deliver effective teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level
- Carry out on-going curriculum review, including teaching content and materials and contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies
- Undertake effectively a range of administrative/managerial responsibilities

**Skills, Experience & Qualification needed**:

- PhD in Economics or related discipline.
- Appropriate academic professional and teaching qualification, or willingness to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice.
- Evidence of successful planning and teaching design across a range of modules, and of lecturing, leading seminars, tutorials and other forms of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Knowledge of a range of teaching techniques and methodologies; experience of using different delivery techniques to enthuse/engage students.
- Highly developed communication skills; ability to present specialist material in a logical, coherent and interesting manner, to students/fellow specialists.
- Ability to innovate in teaching and learning and obtain new knowledge by theoretical and/or practical methods.
- Ability to disseminate scholarly work; presenting papers at conferences/workshops, publishing articles/papers in academic journals.
