**MANAGEMENT VETTING / SECURITY CLEARANCE DESIGNATED POST**

The Regional Intelligence Unit provides the single point of entry and first point of contact for internal and external partners into the ROCU WM. Teams within the RIU include the Covert Support Team, Operational Support Team, Strategic Intelligence and Disclosure Team.

The RIU provides oversight and management of sensitive intelligence functions, maximising our capability to act more effectively in support of tactical and strategic priorities. It allows us to minimise threat, risk and harm and ensures our compliance with legislation. A critical function is to scope, develop and utilise intelligence in direct response to complex criminal activity.

The RIU is a secure environment that is able to receive, assess, analyse and disseminate all intelligence. We achieve this by providing a functionality that protects capability and methodology, whilst allowing investigators to benefit from intelligence gained.

Recruitment into the Gateway function is in line with national standard operating procedure and national standards for single point of entry (SPOE) into the ROCU.

**Essential skills**:

- Experience of managing intelligence led investigations.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of handling sensitive information and covert policing tactics.
- Knowledge of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and NPCC Guidance on the Management of Police Information (MOPI).
- Knowledge of police systems and policing; current legislation, policies and procedures (e.g. GDPR, Human Rights Act, CPIA).
- Demonstrate highly effective interpersonal communication skills: including verbal and written skills.
- Work effectively with minimum supervision whilst remaining team focused.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and produce accurate work within deadlines.
- Able to evidence self-motivation and use of own initiative.
- Excellent time management skills and a good co-ordinator.

**Hours**:
You will work on a shift pattern which encompasses early mornings, late shifts and weekend working

**Location**:
Role is based in central Birmingham with regional and national deployments as required.

**Vetting-**

Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
