An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join the Radiology Department as an RDA Team Lead. The Radiology Department Assistants (RDAs) work across a range of modalities at both the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) and Cromer District Hospital (CDH).

The post holder will be responsible for leading the RDA Team, ensuring that the team are support and allocated appropriately to fulfil service needs.

This role will operate alongside our existing RDA Lead and RDA Coordinators to provide comprehensive management and leadership to approximately 60 RDA staff.

- Manage the day-to-day running of the Directorate’s RDA staff and resolving any issues that arise. This will include the authorising of annual leave and study leave.
- Monitor the staff workloads and allocate work according to staffing levels and adjust these during periods of sickness or unexpected changes in workload.
- Manage RDA staff sickness in line with Trust HR policies, undertaking return to work interviews. To liaise with the Support Services Manager, in issues of sickness and phased returns to work.
- To be lead the recruitment of RDA staff using the TRAC recruitment system, working with the Support Services Manager to write adverts and job descriptions, short-listing, interviewing and taking up references, chairing the interview panel.
- Undertake appraisals on the RDAs and apprentice RDAs and formulating PDP plans, including the identification of training needs and to provide opportunities for staff to undergo relevant training.
- Undertake mandatory training on a regular basis, ensuring that the RDA staff also comply with the requirements for mandatory training and adhere to the Health and safety at Work Act.
- Ensure that all imaging modalities are allocated RDA staff to cover their operational service hours and ensure training is provided and recorded for all staff.
- 8 To chair RDA staff meetings in the absence of the Support Services Manager, working together to produce the agenda and transcribe the minutes of the monthly RDA meetings including dissemination of the Trust team brief and cascade of Radiology Operations meeting minutes.
- Train new RDA, apprentice RDA staff and bank staff on the job and ensure that progress is monitored. Ensure a mentor is appointed and the RDA induction programme is successfully completed.
- To assist the Support Services Manager in ensuring that the appropriate arrangements are made to investigate and respond to all complaints concerning the RDA team of the Directorate in conjunction with the Governance team.
