This position is a 2 year fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours a week. You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team at Pinhoe View, a modern acute female inpatient hospital in Exeter. You'll be a part of a culture that is committed to instilling a holistic approach to healthcare, and where psychological assessment, formulation and intervention are viewed as central to the recovery of service users.

You will provide support to Registered Psychologists, assisting with psychological assessments, which may include a range of psychometric tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with service users and the wider team.

As an Assistant Psychologist, you will enjoy a balance of approximately 60% direct clinical activity and 40% indirect clinical activity. This will see you will create a job plan to manage your main duties, with support and supervision from a Registered Clinical Psychologist

You will assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans, which include psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s conditions, and will coordinate and support therapeutic group sessions.

Under the supervision of Registered Psychologists, you will provide written and verbal feedback regarding the outcome of psychological assessments and formulations.

You will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, evidence-based literature and research projects and prepare and deliver a range of presentations, written reports and training to the psychological services department.

**Your responsibilities**
- Assist in the development of a psychological framework of understanding and care to all service users of the service
- Attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings
- Assist in the design and implementation of audit, effectiveness and research projects
- Prepare test materials and visual aids as required and maintain stock
- Analysis of a range of psychometric packages
- Deliver protocol-based psychological and therapeutic support to individuals and groups

**To be successful in this role, you'll need**
- Undergraduate Psychology Degree (Minimum 2:2)
- Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Excellent clinical and research skills as you will support clinicians in sharing their research and training ideas
- Experience in clinical audit and/or service evaluation is desirable
- Knowledge of psychological assessment and formulation
- Knowledge of a range of mental health conditions including complex trauma, depression, anxiety and psychosis
- Knowledge of common therapeutic models, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and/or Compassion-Focused Therapy
- An integrative approach to psychological intervention, underpinned by the bio-psycho-social model of mental healthcare
