We are excited to be recruiting for a Procurement Specialist to join the Unipart Technology Group, supporting the Technology Companies based in the north of England. The UTG Technology Companies are made up of 4 businesses; Instrumentel Ltd, Park Signalling Ltd, MetLase and Comms Design.
We are now looking for a Procurement Specialist to be responsible for the procurement of components for concept, prototype and series build of technology products, that include a range of electrical and mechanical systems. As part of the team, this role is to ensure design for supplier quality, cost and delivery (QCD) is optimised.
**Key responsibilities of the role include**:
Manage supplier leads times to meet project milestones
Management and reporting of project budget versus actual
Support new customer proposals as required with cost and lead-time estimates
Ensure agile and flexible strategic approach towards prototype and development phases
Identify alternative products and suppliers to drive design for supplier QCD
Drive standardisation and simplification wherever possible
Ensure full life-cycle strategy and support, considering project service life and any obsolescence risks
Purchase goods, materials, components or services in accordance with specified technical, quality and delivery requirements
Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
Prepare quotes/purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers
Interface with other departments and Suppliers for all matters related to the procurement of Project materials and equipment
Provide procurement support for new designs, and when necessary, participate in bid reviews and evaluations
Advocate of the Unipart Way and Tools used to deliver CI of processes and systems
Work in a safe manner, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work, following appropriate Health and Safety guidance, training and company rules and procedures as appropriate
Report any accidents, hazards or dangerous / unsafe behaviour to your line manager immediately
The role will cover sites in Leeds, Sheffield, Harrogate and Stockport and so flxibility with travel is required.
