**About the Role**

**Base Location**: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:

- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant or Dublin.

SSE IT is embarking on an exciting journey to embed agility into our ways of working, building capability for a digital SSE of the future which meets the needs of our customers in a new way.

This is a newly created role within our Group IT function where you'll lead and deliver the transformation to an Agile DevOps organisation whilst working collaboratively with all SSE Businesses to ensure all of our Platforms meet our customer requirements, regulatory and security policies.

With your expert knowledge of building and maintaining network and infrastructure solutions, you will spearhead multi-platform strategies that align to business needs and will help us deliver on our digital and group net zero ambitions.

In this role you'll be responsible for:
- Defining, designing and implementing multi-platform strategies that consider the platform, security, organisational and financial aspects of the service we deliver.
- Managing, developing and engaging a high performing team of Product Owners, as well as creating multi-disciplinary teams to deliver the Platforms you are accountable for which will include:

- Identity & Access Management, Virtualisation Infrastructure, current infrastructure (e.g. mainframe, middleware, storage, etc) and data & voice networks including internet connectivity, VPNs, etc.
- Work with our IT Outsource partner to build an enduring platform team and required capacity to support our business, ensuring they deliver processes and services that provide the best value to SSE.
- Partner with internal teams including Cyber Security, Support, Infrastructure Architecture and others to deliver and maintain a platform with associated DevOps practices.
- Acting as key member of the IT Management team, establishing and maintaining an open, supportive and inclusive culture where people can do their best work.

**What do I need?**

To be considered for this role, we'd love you to have:

- Experience of building network and infrastructure solutions at scale, with large data sets in complex regulated environments.
- Broad knowledge of IT products, services and systems, and specifically how architecture / technology solutions fit within strategic roadmaps. This will include the ability to work in a technically and organisationally complex environment.
- Ability to build, motivate and engage teams, both under your own remit and within a matrix structure.
- Experience of building positive relationships and where appropriate, managing conflicting stakeholder needs, communicating and influencing effectively to find workable solutions.
