Our client based in the Portsmouth area is looking to recruit an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager.

**Purpose of job**:
To ensure the warehouse function operates to the highest standard whilst working efficiently, effectively and safely to optimise objectives by leading by example, setting KPI’s to promote growth development.

**Hours**

Monday to Friday (this does include some evening and weekend work if required under exceptional circumstances and some overtime may be necessary during seasonal periods)

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT**:

- Have a full knowledge of the working/departments of the Warehouse in its entirety
- To ensure timely dispatch of orders in line with customer requirements, eg pallets, labels etc
- Organise warehouse locations efficiently and liaise with the Head of Stock & Logistics regarding forthcoming stock arrivals
- Regularly review current and upcoming customer orders with the Head of Sales Operations to ensure the Pick/Pack Manager prioritises work, plans manpower and ensure the necessary materials are in place to fulfil orders, e.g. cartons, tape etc
- To ensure PI's are conducted on a daily basis in conjunction with the Stock team and PI's resulting from delivery discrepancies notified by customers to be done at Team Leader level or above
- Ensure GRN'S are prepared and presented to office as soon as containers unloaded
- Manage the team to ensure returns are actioned in 48 hours in line with procedures
- Support the Pick/Pack Manager in "spot checking" picked orders to review accuracy and sign off
- Opening/closing warehouses in line with Company security polices
- Monitoring staffing levels and reporting on overtime/agency costs to ensure the department is working efficiently
- Critically analysing performance and implementing procedures to improve on systems of work to meet company productivity goals

**To oversee Health & Safety and statutory/relevant training requirements for the warehouse including**:

- Staff induction (including temporary staff) and completing relevant paperwork
- Racking inspections and formal recording
- Maintain accident/incident book
- Ensure all staff are issued with and use PPE
- Ensure first aiders complete monthly box/equipment checks
- Carry out monthly training topics with the Warehouse team in line with the Company training programme
- Arrange and check annual Warehouse machinery training for Forklifts, Scissor lifts etc
- Ensure Company fleet of vans are safe to drive, drivers are competent and qualified and accurate journey plan/drivers logs are maintained

**PEOPLE MANAGEMENT**:

- Recruiting (with the assistant of HR), training, managing and developing/training new and existing team members
- Weekly payroll reporting
- Conduct regular 1-2-1’s with your team and annual staff annual reviews/appraisals
- Focus on productivity by ensuring continuous working and having the right people doing the right daily jobs e.g. arranging appropriate and cost-effective cover for late deliveries, staggered breaks to cover daily deliveries etc.
- Ensure tasks are evenly distributed and delegated, where necessary to Team Supervisors and Leaders
- Listen to and recognise alternative ways to do things from all members of staff
- Encourage and empower employees to seek solutions for themselves and to make suggestions
- Performance manage staff where necessary including formal investigation/disciplinary meetings and measures
- Assist/manage staff with all aspects of Warehouse Operations including (but not limited to):
Unloading/loading lorries

Pick/pack operations

Checking in stock

Quality assurance of returns

**Skills & Experience**:

- 10+ years' experience working in a senior leadership position with responsibility for stock/warehousing operations in a FMCG environment
- Significant experience of successfully implementing change/improvements/SSOW and training teams
- A positive mindset with a determination to exceed expectations at every opportunity
- Experienced in ensuring compliance with HSE warehousing regulations
- A clear and supportive manager with a track record of developing and managing teams to deliver their highest performance levels
- Self-starter with initiative and drive
- Strong attention to detail
- Forklift qualified (counterbalance and bendy)

**Qualifications**:

- Good standard of education

**Travel Required**
- Some very occasional national travel required at EU warehouse, customer meetings
