A great opportunity for a Finance Assistant has become available at a food manufacturer, based in Northallerton. Reporting into the Financial Controller, the Finance Assistant will look after the transactional finance duties, alongside completing the payroll for the business. For this role you will ideally be competent in the Finance side of this role, where the payroll skills can be trained.

Key responsibilities of the Finance Assistant will include:

- Completion of various reports, including month-end reports
- Monthly reconciliations
- Processing business expense returns
- Processing invoices, reconciling delivery notes to invoices received and purchase orders
- Sending payments for PAYE and third-party payments
- Ensure statement reconciliations are complete to specified deadlines
- Processing payroll for hourly paid staff and ensuring this is completed to the monthly deadline
- Processing statuary payments: sick pay, maternity pay, paternity pay
- Calculating additional payments such as overtime, responsibility pay and average holiday
- Working along side HR to ensure processing of new starters, leavers and change of details on to payroll systems and any supporting factor system
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies with payrolls, alongside answering other questions and queries
- Verifying/processing agency timesheets and other related administration duties
- Time and attendance (T&A) maintenance and reporting in line with working time regulations
- AD-HOC tasks as requested to support the wider team

To be successful in this Finance Assistant role, you will ideally:

- Have effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to take direction
- Be proactive, dynamic and self motivational with the ability to deliver results in a fast paced, pressurised environment
- Be computer literate including Microsoft Office and inhouse computer systems or accountancy software such as Sage, SAP, Xero or Quickbooks
- Be at an intermediate user level of excel or working towards this level.
