This is a fantastic opportunity to join **Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service**’s Performance and Improvement Team as an **Incident Reporting System (IRS) Support Officer**. You will be based at Ipswich East Fire Station, **Ipswich **with** flexible and hybrid working options**.

**Your role and responsibilities**

You will be responsible for supporting the IRS Lead Officer and our operational crews, providing a variety of roles including quality assuring our data before it is published to the Home Office, resolving technical issues and assisting and teaching our users so that our excellent standards are maintained. You will actively support the IRS Lead Officer in the development of the IRS system, liaising with internal and external partners to ensure collaborative working.

As the IRS Support Officer, you will:

- assist the IRS Lead Officer with quality assuring IRS data before it is published to the Home Office
- work closely with our operational personnel to ensure accurate and detailed data is obtained and reported in a timely manner through the correct methods
- support the IRS Lead Officer to monitor IRS completion levels and liaise with others as necessary
- work with Combined Fire Control and our partners to ensure consistency throughout all levels of reporting.

**Your duties will include**:

- managing day to day tasks as directed by the IRS Lead Officer
- working with operational personnel to provide learning, advice and a point of contact for assistance
- working with Fire ICT to resolve technical issues
- being a full contributing member of the IRS Team, assisting the IRS Lead Officer with changing and developing situations.

**You will need to**:

- be enthusiastic, focused and motivated to take on this challenging role
- have an understanding of operational firefighting procedures
- have experience of completing and quality assuring IRS reports, with full knowledge of the data requirements
- be an organised individual with excellent interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate at a variety of levels
- have highly proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- work in a professional manner, demonstrate integrity and promote Suffolk County Councils We Aspire values
- be flexible, able to stay calm in the face of competing pressures and complex organisational and system-wide issues and be able to implement solutions and initiatives at pace.

**The team**

The Performance and Improvement Team play a pivotal role in the collection of accurate data and statistics regarding the operations and performance of Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service. This data is published to many external bodies, including the Home Office, National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) and forms the basis of our Service Performance Measures. Accuracy is key and all members of the team work to a very high standard, specialising in different areas of data collection and reporting, prioritising their work to meet current pressures and being able to respond and change direction as expected in an Emergency Service.
