Good Afternoon we are currently recruiting for an experienced Pensions Specialist to work for Northamptonshire Police at their office in Wellingborough.

This is a permanent role working Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE BEEN RESIDING WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS AT THE DATE OF APPLICATION.

**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:
Working within Enabling Services as the Pension Specialist for both Police and Fire service, managing projects, cases and providing guidance and training as required on all pension provisions

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide support and advice to colleagues in the organisation on technical and legislative issues regarding the various pension schemes
- Complete continual development and training to ensure up-to-date knowledge of pension legislation.
- Contribute to maintaining up-to-date pensions knowledge of HR and Finance personnel.
- To co-ordinate action regarding legislative changes (such as the McCloud ruling).
- Case Management of ill-health, pensions, injury on duty awards and other related issues.
- Working within the pensions industry advisors/experts sufficiently to develop both broad and in-depth knowledge of occupational and personal pension schemes.
- Providing technical advice to internal or external clients across a range of pension issues considering relevant legislation, regulations, and case law, ensuring advice is understandable.
- Drafting documents such as guidance notes, factsheets, and advice notes for a range of audiences.
- Developing and delivering training on technical pensions issues
- Dealing with pension disputes and investigations.
- Acting as a single point of contact, liaising with personnel on their pension queries to resolve issues, make recommendations and perform service recovery.
- to work alongside pension providers to form and maintain relationships to be able to exchange information.
- Summarise pensions industry consultations, brief senior management and draft a response where required.
- Liaising with finance, HR and payroll colleagues and with the Legal Team and The Pensions Ombudsman as necessary.

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**:

- Qualified to or working towards level 4 of the Pension Management Institute qualification with relevant experience of working within a pension environment.
- Substantial experience of developing excellent customer relationships across multiple functions.
- Good working knowledge of pension regulations with experience of writing and implementing policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively within and outside the organisation, including the ability to influence positively and communicate effectively technical information, both orally and in writing to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise conflicting tasks.
- Motivated to ensure that professional and technical knowledge keeps abreast of changes.
- Proficient and familiar with the use of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- A level of awareness of diversity, equality and inclusion issues appropriate to the level of this post.
