We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Health care Support Worker to join our excellent Fertility Team at Wrightington Hospital. Part time permanent position Monday -Friday (over 5 days). We are a leading provider of fertility treatment in the North West. We offer a comprehensive range of Fertility investigations and treatments, with access to lifestyle advice, counselling services and therapies.

The fertility support worker will work as part of the Nursing team delegated by a registered nurse to support and develop the fertility service based at Wrightington Hospital. The fertility support worker will be expected to work both independently and in conjunction with the qualified nurses. The post holder will play a key role in supporting couples to receive optimum care, implementing plans of care devised by the Consultant and Lada Fertility Nurse Specialist.

We are a small team based at Wrightington Hospital in a purpose build unit. Our team is made up of Clinical staff, Nursing staff, Biomedical Scientists, Counsellor and Administrative staff. We are also licence with the HFEA for Partner Intrauterine Inseminations (IUI) and work as a satellite clinic for IVF/ICSI and FER

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
- To deliver care as delegated by registered staff in a manner conducive with promoting independence in clients.
- To work at all times in accordance with Trust policies, procedures including service specific protocols.
- To provide high quality sensitive and competent care for patients.
- To assist the registered therapists in the preparation of treatment materials and equipment.
- To deliver information as directed by registered clinicians giving written and verbal advice to ensure that the patient is fully informed and understanding of investigation processes.
- To provide aspects of social care, for example domestic duties as directed by registered clinicians.
- To maintain accurate patient care records in accordance with Trust guidelines for records and record keeping.
- To be involved in aspects of progressive information technology, i.e. inputting data on EPR and communication tools as appropriate to practice.
- To carry out administration duties e.g. monitoring equipment stock and ordering as needed in line with recommended level.
- To ensure information is accurate and up to date for future reference and complies with the GDPR and HFEA.
- To have a base level knowledge of infertility.
- Follow individual care and treatment plans, with indirect supervision, for patients according to needs identified by registered clinicians.
- To ensure that care plans are adhered to and any changes in the patient’s needs are reported to a registered clinician immediately.
- To record interventions in a single patient record, ensuring that entries meet Trust and departmental guidelines.
- To maintain an accurate up to date record of work based interventions by recording this information in the patients HFEA written notes.
- To support administration team when necessary by assisting with maintaining supply of patient information and management of patient records.
