Lancaster, United Kingdom Lancaster University Full time

We are recruiting a Research Administrator to work on this 18-month study funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (Improving treatment pathways and outcomes for people with co-occurring mental health problems and alcohol use disorders).

The Administrator will be based in the Division of Health Research (DHR) within Lancaster University’s Faculty of Health and Medicine, specifically working in the Spectrum Centre for Mental Health Research. This role will support delivery of this project, provide administrative support across four work packages and will support the set-up and organisation of a service user group and national stakeholder group.

2020 saw the largest increase in alcohol related deaths since records began. We know that people use alcohol to help them cope with mental health problems and that drinking too much can make your mental health worse, but we know less about the future health of people who have both of these problems (estimated to be 1 million people in England). What we do know is that individuals with both alcohol and mental health problems may not always be able to access the treatments that they need.

This research will help us to understand how treatment can be improved for people who have co-occurring mental health and alcohol problems and will develop clinical and service user recommendations with strong involvement from people who have lived experience of these health problems.

We are looking to recruit someone with strong administrative and IT skills, who has relevant experience in academic research and who may have experience of working with third sector and community organisations.

The Faculty provides an environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee, promoting a healthy work-life balance. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education.

The position is available from 1st February 2023 and we are open to discussing flexible working arrangements including working week and days/hours worked and flexible start and finish times.

You will join us on an indefinite contract however the role remains contingent on external funding which at this time is due to come to an end on 31st July 2024.
