This is an exciting new post offering the opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join the new Community Paediatric Psychology (CPP) service, working with children with additional needs who receive their care in the community children's centres. The post holder will become a valued member of the new team, working alongside the newly appointed lead clinical psychologist, and the CPP secretary. The post holder will help the lead psychologist to assess the psychological needs of children with additional needs and their families, and to develop the service to maximise the psychological support and interventions available.

The CPP service is part of Swansea Bay's growing Child and Child Health Psychology Service. We are a friendly and supportive department and all team members are supported to develop their skills and competencies. We meet regularly as a full group for reflective practice, CPD and business updates and their are opportunities for peer support from other Assistant Psychologists within the department.

The Assistant Psychologist will work closely with the lead clinical psychologist, initially to assess the psychological needs of children and young people with additional needs and their families as well as the staff working in the two community children's centres in Swansea Bay University Health Board. Following on from this the Assistant Psychologist will support the clinical psychologist to develop and trial aspects of the service and to develop proposals for delivering the service. The role is likely to include developing digital resources, undertaking audit and service development, as well as direct and indirect clinical work under the supervision of the lead psychologist.
