We are looking to recruit somebody to work as a Anaesthetic Pre-Op Secretary / Admin Support. The role is based at Royal Edward & Albert Infirmary and will involve working 22.50 hours per week.

To work within a small friendly team of Administrative Staff in the Department of Anaesthesia, supporting the co-ordination of the pre-operative anaesthetic referrals received in the Department.

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
- The post-holder will work closely with all levels of anaesthetic doctors by assisting the Pre-Op co-ordinator in the pre-op anaesthetic assessment appointments/referrals, and provide administration support within the Departmental administrative team over 3 sites.
- Assist the lead administrator for the service and assist in the responsibility for all administration necessary including telephone calls with patients regarding aspects of their appointments. Maintaining an electronic record of all anaesthetic assessment’s referrals and outcomes. Typing clinic letters from templates.
- Sorting, prioritising, and processing anaesthetic referrals.
- Helping to arrange outpatient anaesthetic assessment appointments.
- Assist the Co-ordinator with patient correspondence ensuring that patient referral letters and reports are dealt with quickly and accurately within the 18-week referral pathway.
- Liaising with other departments and personnel as appropriate. Responding to general enquiries, arranging patient appointments, supplying patients with relevant documentation, and ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Attend the weekly cancellation meeting and collate information on anaesthetic cancellations. Feedback to the clinical directors/pre op leads
- Sorting, prioritising, processing, and distribution of incoming mail, using judgement and experience to decide which documents are to be passed directly to other areas for action and information.
- Ensuring accurate and up-to-date inputting of information onto all Trust patient systems (PAS, ORMIS, EPR, HIS)
- General office management duties (photocopying, scanning, faxing documentation) as required.
