Lanarkshire, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

This a new Clinical Psychology posts in NHSL CAMHS that will be responsible for driving forward and coordinating assessment and treatment of children who present with comorbid Neurodevelopmental difficulties during assessment. This will involve developing assessment clinics, supervision of clinical staff, supervision of trainees and other duties pertinent to the role. NHSL provides excellent opportunities for training and development.

This is an exciting new post within NHS Lanarkshire CAMHS designed to manage the high volume of referrals and cases on waiting lists requiring assessment for ASD/ADHD and other ND presentations. As we are aware, speed of access to assessment/intervention improves outcomes and patient journey.

As this is a new post, the post holder will have opportunities to develop and influence the role and pathways, in line with national guidance and recommendations. There will also be opportunities to evaluate and disseminate findings on the effectiveness of new pathways.

A significant part of this role will be to shape the effective management of backlog and new referrals within a CAPA model.

The post holder will also work at the interface between the Neurodevelopmental Service and CAMHS when indicated to provide support and liaison for the purposes of ensuring a clear transfer of care should this be required; for example, when a child/young person develops a mental illness and/or becomes high risk.

This post will cover a wide geographical area with interface across CAMHS services and other agencies. Hybrid working can be accommodated and job shares are welcome.

The post holder will assess, be part of the diagnostic process and provide clinical interventions for Neurodevelopmental presentations (NDD) in CAMHS. This would include providing cognitive assessments where indicated and providing consultation on cases where required.

The post holder will be experienced in the administration and interpretation of neuropsychological and diagnostic assessments including ADOS with skills to manage complex cases.

The post holder will have their own NDD clinical caseload - there will be agreement related to numbers and expectations.

The post holder will be expected to collect data related to this new provision to review effectiveness and throughput within CAMHS.

The post holder will be part of the wider CAMHS psychology service and be expected to attend monthly psychology meetings including bi-monthly CPD.

The post holder will also provide specialist psychology supervision to qualified psychologists/other professional colleagues where appropriate, and to psychology trainees in the CAMH Service during their core and/or specialist placements.

The post holder will be expected to exercise responsibility for the systemic governance of clinical psychology practice in the area for which this responsibility is held.

You will have a post-graduate Doctoral Level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical or Counselling or Health Psychology and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Registered Clinical or Registered Counselling or Registered Health Psychologist coupled with significant experience in working with individuals, their family or carers, who experience complex and enduring mental health difficulties and significant experience in supporting, teaching and consultation with other mental health professionals working within psychological settings.

You must have proven ability to undertake formative and summative clinical assessments, and prepare reports demonstrating interpretation of findings and have completed recognised formal training in supervision of applied psychologists along with having completed further courses of additional learning relevant to the clinical skills demanded by the post as identified in the Role Profile.
