**Relief Specialist Support Worker**

**Job Reference: 23/18**

**Hours: Casual/Bank Staff**

**Salary: £11.31 per hour plus holiday pay, plus payment for sleep-in shifts**

**Based in: Brierfield, Lancashire**

Imagine Independence is a leading third sector organisation, passionate about supporting people with mental illness, neurodiversity, learning disabilities, and behaviours that challenge to live as part of their community. Imagine exists to challenge the stigma that having a mental illness or learning disability still brings. Imagine supports people to live meaningfully by nurturing their individuality and recognising the power of small steps.

Every day, Imagine’s staff and volunteers generously share their experience, knowledge, and talents with the people they support. Through their focused dedication to Imagine’s mission, and the courage to challenge the status quo, people feel valued. They know they are making both the ‘everyday’ and the ‘extraordinary’ become possible for everyone. They walk alongside the people they have the privilege to serve, helping to transform lives, one day at a time. And they never give up.

Do you want to become part of this amazing organisation?

Imagine now needs Relief Specialist Support Workers who will provide support to individuals with a variety of different needs and conditions. This may include learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders, complex behaviour, mental health conditions, acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities, neurological impairments, psychiatric and clinical needs. This is a great time to join, as we continue to expand our services across the north-west of England and beyond. The role of Relief Specialist Support Worker includes an expectation to support individuals with all their daily living requirements including support with personal care. If you have patience, compassion and willingness to make a difference in someone’s life then we would like to hear from you. For an initial chat, please call Donna Bunce on 07816 131 960, Donna Irving on 07969 202 704 or John Wylie on 07887 748 034.

Our main aim is:
To provide person centred support so the people we support are able to feel connected to their community, feel safe in a homely environment and receive the care and support they need in all aspects of their life whilst promoting independence.

The people we support live in their own bungalows with a staff team on a 1:1 or a 2:1 basis 24 hours a day including evenings, weekends and sleep in duties. We support people with a diagnosis of severe learning disabilities, Autism, complex behaviours sensory, and health needs including moving and support. It is important that people are able to provide consistent support in line with support plans in place. Drivers are preferred due to people having access to their own mobility cars. The activities people enjoy are going for drives and walks, seaside visits, parks, music, swimming, trampolining, arts and crafts, bowling, eating out, visiting family, days out, short breaks and socialising with friends. At times the people we support do require additional support when they become anxious.

The people we support appreciate staff who are fun and not afraid to sing and dance, reliable, enthusiastic, good sense of humour, calm, friendly, consistent, committed, flexible and are able to maintain boundaries.

Our support staff work with people to enhance their skills within the home environment by supporting with cooking, daily living tasks, budgeting and financial support, personal care, accessing education and healthcare.

Experience is preferred due to the complex needs of the people we support, however full training will be provided which consists of a combination of face to face, online and shadowing an existing staff member. We will support you to complete Care Certificate and also provide opportunities to gain qualifications in Health and Social Care.
- **Meaningful Living**:Using empathy to bring together diverse people and resources, to put the everyday within reach of everyone.
- **Nurturing Individuality**:Creating conditions that support people to be true to themselves and express their truth.
- **Focused Dedication**:Showing up each day hungry to do our best to learn and develop. We never give up on people.
- **Challenging Ideas**:Keeping our efforts real and centred on what matters most, we do not settle for the ordinary when better is possible.
- **Generous Sharing**:Giving of ourselves, our experiences and knowledge, to promote and provide a great service.
