**EAL Learning Support Assistant**

Learning Support Assistant (LSA) helps children and young people who need extra support within the classroom, to ensure that children with barriers to learning can access the same level of education as their peers. This role will be providing extra supportto those who have English as an Additional Language (EAL) in a secondary school setting.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering one to one lessons for those who need extra support. The postholder will also provide general classroom assistance as well as other duties around the school. Part of the TA/EAL Tutor role will be to takechildren out of the classroom and deliver specialist one to one support.

The assignment:

- Supporting children's behaviour for learning
- Assisting children with their understanding of activities and encourage active participation in class
- Assisting with note taking
- You may work with individual learners in the classroom 1:1 or you may work with individuals or small groups in the Learning Support department.
- Supporting the pupil's individual needs, according to their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Participating in team meetings and Continual Professional Development (CPD) training provided by the school as an active member of a team
- Maintaining pupil progress records
- Supporting regulations pertaining to safeguarding (_Department for Education _)
