- refining our internal processes to align with our new ways of working

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust comprises five of the UK’s best-known hospitals: Guy’s, St Thomas’, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton and Harefield, as well as community services in Lambeth and Southwark. All have a long history of high-quality care, clinical excellence, research and innovation.

We are among the UK’s busiest, most successful foundation trusts. We provide specialist care for patients including heart and lung, cancer and renal services as well as a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Lambeth and Southwark. We have a long tradition of clinical and scientific achievement and, as part of King’s Health Partners, we are one of England’s eight academic health sciences centres,
bringing together world-class clinical services, teaching and research.
Job summary

The patient information team is responsible for developing and updating high-quality resources, designed to meet the needs of our patients, and their families and carers.

We produce hundreds of patient information resources a year. The majority of this is written content on the Trust’s website, but we also work on leaflets, books, films and other digital projects.

The patient information officer will work closely with clinical teams from across the Trust to develop accessible and clear information, in line with our policy and approval process. The post holder will also work closely with patient information leads (staff in each clinical specialty with an interest in patient information) to help govern our resources.

The Trust has recently redeveloped its public-facing website, enabling us to transform the way we deliver content to the communities we serve. Our online health information will comply with accessibility guidance, meet clear user needs and follow best practice of content design and the NHS Digital Service Manual. This will require closer working between our digital communications and patient information teams.

The post is suitable for someone with significant or substantial experience in digital content management, and additional experience in publications, editorial, communications or patient involvement. It is suitable for someone with excellent verbal and writing skills, and attention to detail.

The post holder will work with the wider communications team to raise awareness of the value of good health information, our processes and the range of information we have available. The quality of our patient information has been recognised by awards from the BMA and the Bupa Foundation.
