**About the role as the Head of Governance**

As the Head of Governance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of governance, including fulfilling legal and regulatory requirements across our organisation, whilst facilitating communication between the board and executive leaders. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Corporation, you will be responsible for providing advisory and operational support to the Corporation Board and to governors individually on:

- Effective governance.
- Governors’ obligations and the Board’s powers.
- The implications of policy or regulatory developments.
- Training and development opportunities for governors, underpinned by regular board skills audits.
- Assessment of board performance.
- Induction of new board members and help to engage student governors with the Board’s work.

This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Oxford Campus, with regular travel between all of our campuses.

**What do you need to be successful in the Head of Governance role?**

As the Head of Governance, you will;
- Bring relevant governance experience, preferably within the Further Education sector, with excellent working knowledge of legislation, statutory and constitutional matters relating to corporate governance.
- Be eloquent and able to communicate clearly and confidently, with discretion, empathy and sensitivity to a wide range of stakeholders at all levels and provide accurate and concise advice and clear and informed recommendations.
- Ability to influence and challenge at Board level in a manner consistent with our values, and drive change through consultation and collaboration.
- Be an independent thinker and positive initiative taker who can nurture and develop relationships effectively.
- Possess essential skills to produce accurate, concise, well presented meeting notes, minutes and complex reports.
