Oxford, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experience individual to join our growing team at the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM) as an Information Governance Officer.

The newly established multidisciplinary IMCM brings together the very best scientific, clinical, technological and computational expertise from Oxford University and GSK to form a unique industry/academic partnership. The aim of the institute is to improve tools in, and knowledge from, genetics, genomics, molecular and single cell biology, spatial imaging, machine learning and novel methods of data handling to study the pattern of diseases in new ways. The Institute will develop disease agnostic platforms, including a cloud-based shared data platform (trusted research environment, TRE), to change the clinical practise of pathology, helping to identify and validate early potential drug targets, and biomarkers to predict disease progression.

A particular focus will be on actively supporting the projects hosted by the IMCM platform to comply with policies, regulations, and good practice relevant to information governance and security. You will lead on the delivery of certification under the NHS Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT) and accreditation with the ISO 27000 series Information Security Management Systems standards.

It is essential that you have demonstrable experience of having applied Information Governance and/or Security policies and procedures. You will have excellent working knowledge of at least one of ISO 27000 (and related), the NHS Data Security Protection Toolkit, and/or managing the information governance aspects of research projects.

Confident in dealing with senior stakeholders across the department and wider University, you will come armed with excellent interpersonal skills, showing tact and diplomacy when dealing with problems or compliance issues. The ability to work methodically with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail will be critical in this role, alongside strong organisational and time management skills.

The Nuffield Department of Medicine is friendly, welcoming and keen to engage with the many challenges and opportunities that arise in our world-leading, internationally recognised department. This role offers the opportunity to thrive in a diverse role in a supported environment.

Closing date: 6th April and job ref 164059.
