**About the Role**:
Parkbury House Surgery has an opportunity for a scanning clerk to join our busy practice support team, on a part**-**time basis for 15 hours per week**. **The role will be working a Monday & Tuesday plus cover for holiday and sickness

The main purpose of the role is to provide an efficient medical record scanning service to support the business needs of Parkbury House Surgery.

The following are the core responsibilities of the scanning clerk. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

- Opening all paper post addressed to the surgery and disseminating.
- Scanning all paper clinical correspondence to patient records via our clinical computer systems.
- Uplifting electronically received clinical correspondence and filing to the patient’s records via our clinical computer systems.
- To possess sufficient knowledge once trained to work unsupervised and by taking advice from a supervisor when appropriate.
- To provide cover for absence, of scanning staff, as required ensuring continuity of scanning.
- To effectively communicate with scanning team, doctors, nursing staff and others concerning scanning issues.
- To be able to manage own workload to ensure work is accurate and complete to meet targets and communicate any problems to the line manager.
- To work mainly on own initiative but referring more complex issues to colleagues or Line manager.
- Undertake other duties as required commensurate with the post.
- To attend any meeting that is appropriate as necessary.
- To comply with Parkbury House Surgeries policies and procedures and implementing local policies when required.
- To undertake all reasonable requests from Line Manager.

- Experienced in administrative duties ideally within a health care setting
- Excellent communicator able to work in a confidential and discreet manner;
- Able to "think on their feet" in a busy working environment;
- Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure;
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently.

Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
