**Job summary**:
The responsibilities for the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology for 2023 are as follows:

- Put our public services - including the NHS and schools - at the forefront of innovation, championing new ways of working and the development of in-house STEM capability to improve outcomes for people.
- Strengthen international collaboration on science and technology in line with the Integrated Review, and ensure our researchers are able to continue to work with leading scientists in Europe and around the world.
- Deliver key legislative and regulatory reforms to drive competition and promote innovation, including the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill, the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Bill and our pro-innovation approach to regulating AI.

**Job description**:
You will be joining the Data Protection Policy team at a pivotal moment, as the Data Protection and Digital Identify Bill currently makes its way through the Parliamentary stages. These reforms will modernise the UK’s data protection regime to maximise the opportunities presented by data use, whilst maintaining high data protection standards.

As well as supporting work on the Bill, this role will also include working towards the implementation of our key reforms, whilst ensuring we maintain our data protection regime and ensuring it is fit for purpose amidst technological development.

**Person specification**:

- Providing administrative and coordinating duties for the Innovation, International and Data Rights team. This will include owning and updating team products, arranging team engagements and coordinating the team’s international engagement work.
- The post holder can expect to gain first hand experience of policy work, and provide support on a range of data protection issues, including assisting with research, drafting papers and preparing presentations.
- Coordinating and managing engagements with external stakeholders, officials across DSIT and other government departments, and Ministers. This will include minute-taking and supporting on briefings and other preparatory documents
