**About the role**

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Technical Support Officer to join our Highways Electrical and ITS Team.

The post holder will be part of a small team which is responsible for the maintenance and delivery of new work projects for street lighting, traffic signals and integrated transport systems within the geographical area of North Somerset.

The role involves providing technical admin support to the team to ensure its systems are kept up to date to meet its legal and statutory duties and providing data and reports to support the delivery of the teams contracts and annual projects.

Typical duties will include:

- Updating and maintaining the team’s electronic asset database systems
- Using the asset database system to prepare monthly Key performance indicator reports for contract meetings.
- Using the asset database system to prepare data to support team projects and requests from other teams including annual data submissions.
- Preparing utility information packs for projects.
- Assist the Team manager with ongoing improvements to the teams Street Lighting asset management system.
- Provide cover when team members are on leave to process daily fault orders, issue fault rectification orders to the Regional Electricity Company and deal with enquiries from the general public and outside agencies.

**About you**

To be successful you will need to be PC literate as you will be working with MS office software (Excel and Word) and the team’s database systems and need to be able to interrogate these systems to extract data. The ability to have asset management system experience is desirable, however training will be provided. An enthusiastic and methodical approach is essential, as is the ability to be flexible in a constantly developing environment with customer care being at the forefront of your everyday working.

The post-holder will be expected on occasion to accompany technical officers on site visits around the area and occasionally outside the local authority area to attend meetings etc. **Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.**
