About the team:

You will need to be self-motivated, with an aptitude for dealing with ambiguity and arriving at appropriate, business-focussed solutions. You will work with multiple stakeholders across the Group, providing advice on technical accounting issues and acting as a valued business partner. Your ability to adapt your communication style for various audiences allowing you to explain technical concepts clearly. _

What you will be doing:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide expert technical accounting advice and accounting policy expertise across the organisation; working with a wide range of stakeholders across the business (including Group Finance, Operations, IT, Capital Markets and Tax) to conclude on the correct treatment for complex transactions that require a high level of accounting judgment and ensure this is documented appropriately.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Be a key contact for Finance and the wider business to assess the accounting treatment of proposed transactions under IFRS.
- Support the Group Head of Accounting Policy by undertaking technical accounting analysis on proposed corporate transactions e.g. capital market transactions, merger and acquisitions and/or corporate restructuring
- Ensure transactions and other accounting judgments are documented in a clear and consistent manner with sufficient evidence to support the accounting treatment. Work with colleagues across Finance, and more widely, to ensure that accounting conclusions are understood and implemented appropriately.
- Take the lead in liaising with our external auditors to ensure their comfort with our approach.
- Manage the accounting policy cycle
- Review and amend Group accounting policies, working with partners across the Finance to accurately capture existing policy decisions and to ensure that updates to policies can be operationalised in an efficient and effective manner.
- Identify the need for new accounting policies
- Keep up to date with new developments in IFRS, including standard-setting and pronouncements from the IASB, FRC and other bodies. Assessment of their likely impact to the Group and communication of this to affected stakeholders.
- Lead on projects as required working on ad hoc initiatives and opportunities

In return for your commitment:
We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £80,000 - £90,000 and a competitive benefits package including:

Could you be the one?:
We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:

- Previous experience of technical accounting within either financial services, audit or other large corporate is essential
- Previous experience of interpreting and working with IFRS
- Previous experience of interacting with committees and external stakeholders is essential
- Specialist knowledge of UK Public Company financial reporting is essential
- Detailed knowledge of capital market transactions, merger and acquisitions and corporate restructuring is essential
- Advanced skills in respect of creating and developing accounting policies is essential
- Advanced skills in respect of report writing, verbal communication and presenting are essential
- Advanced skills in respect of stakeholder engagement, particularly senior stakeholders is essential
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA or ACCA) is essential
