Job Introduction
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Educational Psychologists to join our creative and friendly service. This year, our service has led on local authority wide initiatives, such as ELSA, our nationally renowned literacy project and supporting Looked After children as part of joint work with the Virtual School. We continue to use psychology in everything we do to change and improve the life experiences of children and families in Staffordshire.

A comprehensive programme of induction, supervision and training will be provided offering excellent preparation for an assistant role as part of a busy service and for any future steps towards training to be an EP.

**This advert is for a position in our Newcastle and Moorlands districts.**

Main Responsibilities
- Support and work closely with a district team of educational psychologists in providing a professional service to the LA, schools, children, and their families.
- To implement interventions that are grounded in psychological theory and principles in order to promote inclusion and maximise the achievement of young people.
- Work within the framework of the SEN Code of Practice.
- Undertake collaborative work with parents, teachers, and other professionals in accordance with LA and Service procedures and practice.
- Undertake research and contribute to service development work.
- Maintain good administrative records of all work undertaken and to support the maintenance and accuracy of electronically held data.
- Develop professional skills and knowledge and to feed back to Service colleagues’ information about work undertaken in CPD time.
- Undertake such other duties appropriate to an assistant educational psychologist as may be required.
- Be adaptable to changes in the work context.
- Responsible for ensuring that any concerns in relation to safeguarding and/or child protection are reported to the designated person in line with Local Authority Child Protection procedures. It is an expectation of the post that Child Protection training will be undertaken.

As a minimum you will need an honours degree in Psychology (or equivalent) recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as well as relevant experience.
