**About us**

The Kids-Hub delivers coding/robotics 2 hour sessions in school, and outside of schools in Newcastle. The children build tangible models and bring them to life through programming, all while learning a digital literacy. We use Minecraft Education, Lego Education, Scratch (official) in our sessions for the children to explore and learn design skills as well as coding. The sessions are mainly Lego and Minecraft is usually during holiday workshops. STEM offers multiple benefits and the children are loving it. We work 3.15-5.00 weekdays (you will be paid for 2 hours), Sundays 12.30-2.30 (you won’t be required to work every Sunday), holiday workshops 9.45-1.45 at various locations/in schools, birthday parties 1.5 hours (paid for 2).

Educator/Facilitator

**Duties**:

- Ensure all kits are fully charged prior to sessions and clean (screens/kits)
- Daily register
- Sorting Lego Kits in preparation for each 2 hour session
- Assisting children with login on app
- Following pre planned lesson plans and deliver challenges to children
- Assist children in session and engage at all times throughout
- Guide children with ideas on how to modify their creation, and encourage creativity (Usually in pre planned lesson plans, but creativity and new ideas are welcome)
- Conduct robot races if building vehicles
- Ensure the safeguarding of the children is priority and handed over to designated parent.
- Tidy kits and Equipment
- Ability to administer medication/EpiPen when necessary (First Aid Paediatric qualification bonus, but if not we can cover cost)
- Level 2 safeguarding bonus (if not will cover cost)
- Enhanced DBS check covered by us

**Experience**:

- No previous experience necessary as training will be provided, although working with children previously would be beneficial.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think on the spot and get creative with the children.
- Knowledge and experience with Minecraft or Lego a bonus
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Ability to command a classroom and manage 10 children or more at any given sesssion
- Ability to work well in a team environment and with children.

As a Facilitator, you will enjoy assisting and guiding children on STEM and helping them code with scratch. Your role is to teach the children through play, offering excellent support while having a lot of fun and laughs along the way. You need to be well spoken and deliver to a classroom of primary school age children 5 and up (average age usually 8) Patience is essential, encouraging and nurturing their developing skills while having fun. You will be playing a crucial part in their lives by helping them acquire skills for life. You must enjoy working with children and be confident to deliver sessions on your own.
