Senior Family Support Worker
Salary £32,020-£36,298 Per annum | Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week | Early Help - Burnley |
The post sits within Lancashire County Council's Early Help Service within the Education and Children's Services Directorate.
The recent redesign of the Early Help Service reflects the priorities and vision within the Directorate. Specifically, these are:
- To strengthen the focus on outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and their families by adopting a need’s led approach.
- To adopt a warranted variation approach that is determined by the specific nature of demand within a locality.
- To support a joined-up approach across, Inclusion, Education and the CFW service by adopting a locality-based model.
- To align the CFW service offer with educational provision at a locality basis recognising that most children access childcare and go to school.
The service enables children, young people and their families to access support as early as possible, to help them maintain their quality of life, prevent any problems getting worse and reduce the demand for specialist support services.
Senior Community Family Support Workers are operational frontline delivery staff linked to support across the Early Help Partnership and schools. They will carry a small caseload of children and young people in families with complex unmet needs at a Universal + or intensive level of need on the Lancashire Continuum of Need.
Senior Community Family Support Workers will provide dedicated practical support to school partners and other key partners. They will act as a key point of contact for delivery support from the service in relation to specific cases or identified family needs within schools in their cluster, adding value alongside other key services. They will work with all Early Help partners in their areas to utilise existing resources in a more integrated way to secure better outcomes for families. Key objectives will be helping partners to coordinate their existing services to work together more effectively and find solutions to barriers they may face which prevent them from offering earlier interventions.
They will work closely with partners to ensure that appropriate Early Help support can be effectively channelled for children, young people and families, using the school community as a focal point, finding mechanisms for partners who are coordinating support for a family, whereby they can quickly identify and locate any additional services and support a family may need.
They will work with partners to build their knowledge and skills around thresholds and understanding of these in order to make appropriate and informed decisions about escalating cases only where necessary to do so.
Flexibility to work with families early in the morning or evening and weekend delivery may be required to meet the needs of families.
Other:
High functioning ICT and literacy skills are essential.
Additional Details: Evening and weekend working (Contractual)
For an informal conversation please contact Team mangers Hannah wiggin and Nadine Barron
Please ensure you have uploaded and attached your supporting statement to evidence how you meet the criteria for the role. The panel may be unable to shortlist you for interview without this evidence.
In return Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, which can be found on LCC Vacancies website.
