**Hours**:

- 5 Days a week
- Must be able to work on Saturdays
- Must be flexible to allow for staff holidays, sickness and variations in planned clinics

- Parking space available but not guaranteed

Lunar Optical is an Independent Opticians who have been providing eyecare, to the local community of Gloucester Road for 10 years

We have a reputation for high standards of clinical and optical care, a personalized service, a friendly atmosphere and loyal clientele, as well as a great range of frames and quality spectacle and contact lenses.

**What're looking for in you?**

You must have good communication skills, be well presented, confident, with a pleasant and caring manner, and be good at making our patients feel welcome and valued in the practice. You must be able to deal with queries professionally and empathise with people who may be anxious about their eyesight.

You need to be reliable, honest and trustworthy. You need to be able to get on well with the other staff.

Some of the duties required are as follows;
**Communication**
- Being the first point of contact - for patients, suppliers and outside organisations
- Managing appointments in the diary - taking, amending bookings and confirming bookings
- Meeting and greeting patients/customers on arrival
- Establishing eligibility for NHS services, and explaining charges
- Giving basic advice to patients regarding their clinical and optical care

**Clinical/optical support**
- Preparing consulting rooms for clinics; closing down rooms after clinics
- Recording some pre-exam data to support the optometrist
- Performing post exam/ clinic admin procedures
- Assisting with some diagnostic testing
- Assisting with frame selections and frame display organisation
- Processing orders for glasses and contact lenses, and arranging patient collection

**Administrative**
- General office tasks - including keeping the practice organised, tidy, clean and stocked
- Patient records - creating, updating and organising paper and electronic records
- Scanning, sending and receiving reports, referral letters, clinic data and other correspondence
- Processing post, orders for goods, invoices from suppliers, NHS claim forms and payments

**Financial**
- Use of till - taking cash, card payments, end of day cashing up and reporting
- Setting up and amending Direct Debit payments
- Reconciling NHS and other customer payments

**Relationships with other staff and training**
- You will support our dispensing optician and optometrists, through delegated tasks.
- Direct supervision and training will be provided by management team and/or dispensing optician and optometrists
- There is an opportunity to progress and develop extended roles in the future

Optical/dispensing

▪ Spectacle frame selection and dispensing assistance

▪ Simple frame repairs and adjustments

Clinical Optometry support

▪ Conducting eye scans and visual field testing

▪ Patient education - on contact lens care and eye care

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £22,000.00-£23,000.00 per year
