**Job description**
We are currently looking for a Playgroup Assistant.
All Playgroup Assistants should be qualified (Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Childcare and Early Years, ideally NVQ Level 3 Childcare) and comfortable working with young children. Active listening skills, creativity and genuine enjoyment of children are all beneficial for this position. A successful Playgroup Assistant will also have various prerequisite skills and qualifications which typically include:
- Flexibility and openness to change
- A caring and nurturing attitude towards children
- Excellent verbal communication
- The ability to remain calm under pressure
- Sensitivity and understanding
- The ability to work well with others
- Customer service skills
- Uses initiative
All Playgroup assistants must be willing to undertake training such as: First Aid, Child Protection and Safeguarding Children and Food Safety. Other training opportunities will be available
Work experience in a childcare setting is not required but beneficial.
We operate term time only with a 2 - 3 week summer scheme during July and August.
Playgroup Assistants will help daily with; providing care to children aged 2 years 10 months - 4 years old. They will work with a small team of 3 others to create a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and develop their social, emotional and educational skills. The main role of the Playgroup Assistant will be to work directly with the children in group activities such as completing crafts, story telling, singing, helping with puzzles and imaginative play. You will also be required to help with toileting and daily cleaning.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Temp to perm
Part-time hours: 8 per week
**Salary**: £10.42 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
