**About the Role**

This is a unique opportunity to work on a day-to-day basis with internal and external industry professionals, you will also work alongside contractors in this role.

As a Traffic Technician, you will report to the Principal Engineer and work alongside Engineers within the team to assist the Principal Engineer and the Traffic Engineer in delivering projects within the Engagement and Commissioning team.

As we are a hybrid working organisation, you will be provided with a Chromebook and the expectancy is that you come into the office approximately between 2-3 days a week depending on project requirements. The team currently have two days a week in the office, Tuesdays and Thursdays, but there is some flexibility on this to be discussed at the offer stage with the hiring manager.

**About Us**

The Engagement & Commissioning team sits within the shared Highways and Transport service for Kingston and Sutton. The two boroughs take very seriously their commitments to working with communities to achieve better neighbourhoods and transport for all. The newly-formed Engagement and Commissioning team is made up of a Principal Engineer, an Engineer and an Assistant Engineer. The team is responsible for the commissioning of transport schemes in RBK and will enhance the Service with extra capacity for engagement across the shared service.

Both the Royal Borough of Kingston (RBK) and the London Borough of Sutton (LBS) teams cover different functions, these are:

- Development Control
- New Highway schemes
- Parking schemes
- Road Safety
- Individual functions for Flood Management
- Public Rights of Way
- The Engagement & Commissioning team are the project leads on those areas of work and are also the direct liaison with Ward Councillors and resident engagement.

Our Engagement & Commissioning team has some really exciting projects in the pipeline for you to contribute to, with Kingston dealing with major growth around the Town Centre along with a large Estate Regeneration project at the Cambridge Road estate, which will need significant input from our team. The team has contributed extensively to the borough's climate action ambitions

**About You**

To be successful as a Traffic Technician, you will:

- Hold a relevant technical qualification, e.g., HND/HNC or equivalent experience.
- Have a positive attitude to integrating into a dynamic highways service and to learning.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and understand corporate vision, plan and activities which may impact them.
- Have good IT Skills with the ability to use Google Suite with knowledge and understanding of industry-relevant software.
- Be a good problem solver with good analytical skills.
- Work collaboratively with others, supporting technical teams in developing designs, managing contractors, safety inspections and engaging with the public and stakeholders about our work.
