- We would expect the apprentice to become a valuable member of the team supporting fee earners and senior lawyers in the day-to-day management of the various matters that they are dealing with.

**Future Prospects**
- Not guaranteed but in the past one has been available as previous apprentices have developed and become an important part of the team.
- Would depend on level and competence achieved.

**The Law Practice**
- Legal Services: conveyancing - residential and commercial; Property Law; Private Client - Wills/Probate; Dispute Resolution - debt recovery, contract disputes, contested probate, property disputes etc
- Family Law - Divorce, finances on divorce, children law, TOLATA claims etc

**Your role**

Open plan with a couple of private offices and a meeting room. Generally quiet and focussed but can also be busy at certain times.

It is very much a Team environment where members are encouraged to be encouraging but with a competitive and at times challenging edge. There are deadlines to be met with regard to completion dates in conveyancing and Court timetables and Hearing dates to adhere to.

The apprentices will be working across the various departments as part of the overall team and so the work they become involved in should be varied and interesting.

Previous apprentices have been given a “hands on” approach to learning and have excelled throughout their learning and academic experience.

**The role will include many of the following**:
Assist members of the team as an when required and including but not necessarily limited to:

- Answering the phone
- Opening post
- Scanning Post to appropriate client file on Case Management System (CMS) and notifying the relevant case handler that new items have arrived in the CMS. Filing the hard copy post on the hard copy file
- Assisting with Conveyancing Quotes
- Following up quotes given
- Client onboarding eg on acceptance of quote setting up file and dealing with the client onboarding process - including Identity and money laundering checks etc
- Assisting with case progression on an as required basis
- Assisting with the preparation of bundles for court hearings
- Liaising with Counsel regarding appointments for Court hearings/Conference with client

As the apprentice progresses and becomes ever more competent further variety will be added to the above list of potential activities, tasks and responsibilities.

**Desired skills**
- **4-9 grades English and maths GCSE's**:

- Confident with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage reception in conjunction with other administration duties
- Good attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of ICT packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to demonstrate or gain a clear understanding of the firm’s in-house systems where training will be given
- Excellent presentation, organisation and timekeeping skills
- Awareness of confidentiality and safeguarding
- The ability to use own initiative, be able to work individually as well as part of a team
- Must be well-presented with a clear, pleasant telephone manner
- Good organisational skills
- Good client care skills

**Training to be provided**
- Level 3 in Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard

- Understanding the organisation and stakeholders
- Relevant regulations and policies
- Business fundamentals
- Professionalism and performance management
- Functional skills if needed
