**About One Community**

One Community is an independent charity, established in 1978, to support the voluntary and community sector. We have grown to provide a range of care, transport and information services aimed at improving the quality of life for those we serve and helping our communities to flourish.

**Objectives**:

- To assist in the running of the One Community Day Centres under the direction of the Day Centre Team Leader and Senior Support Worker. To ensure that clients are safely and comfortably transported to the Day Centre when necessary.

**Main tasks and Responsibilities**:

- To assist in the running of the Day Centre and the person-centred care of clients
- To always ensure the general safety and well-being of the client
- To provide stimulating activities within their limits and wishes i.e., conversation, reading, playing board games etc.
- To provide a listening and understanding ear
- To assist with personal care including toileting requirements, incontinence, when necessary, as per individual person-centred care plan
- To prepare drinks and light meals, when necessary, help with feeding if appropriate.
- To administer medication where necessary and appropriate, and monitor health related conditions such as dietary and fluid intake
- To ensure the centres are clean and COVID secure.
- To assist in the preparation and delivery of activities to meet the needs of the Day Centre clients, including outings and special occasions.
- To have regard to the needs of primary carers
- Be professional, wearing appropriate clothing and photographic identity badge.
- To help clients with mobility difficulties, or other physical disabilities. To help in the use of aids and other personal equipment
- To provide cover across all the One Community Day Centres and Options Home Services when required and to provide community support if the day centres are closed.

**General**:

- To work as part of a team, to develop positive, professional relationships with clients and their next of kin.
- To be largely self-sufficient in terms of the post’s administrative work
- To promote equality and diversity in all aspects of work
- To follow all relevant policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Risk Assessments and Confidentiality as per the Employee Handbook and Contract and, to always ensure clients are safe from harm.
- To maintain professional boundaries
- To take part in Team Meetings
- To undertake regular One to One’s and Appraisals with supervisor/manager.
- To attend relevant training as required
- To undertake such additional responsibilities as required which are commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post.
- All employees and volunteers are expected to work as a team by actively sharing and exchanging information across the organisation, attending staff and other meetings when asked and working together with other staff when roles and interests overlap.
- Deal with members of the public, users of the scheme and other professionals in an appropriate and sensitive manner and to communicate effectively with them verbally and in writing.
- In all aspects of handling personal information all employees are required to work to maintain confidentiality and data protection
- Any other duties commensurate with the post as required from time to time.

**Conditions of Service**:
Full conditions of service are detailed in the Contract of Employment and the General Employment Handbook.

**Hours**:
22.5 hours per week. The working days of this post will be Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Our hours of operation are 9am-5pm.

**Location**:
The post holder will be based at one of our Day Services working within the Borough of Eastleigh. The location may change on a regular basis for example, one week you could be stationed at Eastleigh for 3 days, the following week you may be at Bursledon for 2 days and, Eastleigh for the 3rd day, depending on the needs of the service and to cover holiday and sickness.
