Health Care Assistant Stock Controller

The Health Care Assistant will be responsible for the maintenance of adequate medical and surgical stores within the N.I.C.U, through appropriate ordering using Oracle online computer ordering system. She/He will also be responsible for the cleanliness and accessibility of each stock area.
To understand his/her role with regards to other team members and how the team functions.
To be aware that the information regarding the patient is confidential and is only to be discussed in the course of his/her duties.
Welcoming patients/relatives/friends to ward area.
Conveyance of telephone messages quickly, politely and accurately.
Ensuring welfare of relatives/friends, as required.
Supporting interaction between wards and departments collecting and delivering items or messages as required.
By maintenance of appropriate stock levels of formula milks, sterile water, bottles, teats and clinical equipment e.g. specimen jars.
By maintaining a neat and well-organised clinical areas, dirty utility, stock room, CDDS room, Milk Kitchen, blood gas room.
By carrying out other duties as requested by Ward/Unit Manager.
The post holder must work within the SBU HB Policies and Procedure.

Be responsible for ordering Medical/Surgical sundries, on a weekly basis. Ensuring that items are ordered on the appropriate date and orders are sent to the correct department, on time.
Maintaining adequate stock levels to meet the unit needs.
Adjusting stock levels as required.
Ensure appropriate storage of each item & put CSSD items away.
Keep clinical rooms, store, HSDU, dirty utility, milk rooms, linen room and shelves clean and tidy.
Keep invoices and documentation correctly filed.
**Liaise with appropriate departments, re**: missing items or late arrivals.
Check items on selves are used within strict date rotation.
