To work flexibly as part of a team providing care on a 24 hour basis, providing help and support to service users with all activities of daily living.

Assisting with therapeutic and diversional activities for service users.

Assisting Registered Nurses with the daily activities of the Home to ensure that service users’ personal needs are met.

Assisting with the delivery of a high standard of care to individual service users under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

**Shift Patterns: 8-2, 2-8, 8-8 and 8-8 nights**

**Contracts are 33 hours full time, 18 - 24 part time**

**Qualifications**

**Essentials**:

- None Required

**Desirable**:

- Experience in Elderly
- Experience in Mental Health
- NVQ in Health Care

**Experience**:

- Experience of working with people
- Experience of working within a team
- Experience of working with elderly

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Good oral and written communication skills

Sound basic knowledge of English and language for communication purposes
- Ability to deal with changing situations sensibly and practically
- Ability to undertake a wide range of duties
- Willingness to work flexibly as required throughout the 24 hour period, including rotation
- Safe and practical approach to work
- Awareness of differing cultural background of service users and diversity of needs
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to the work of the team
- Positive attitude towards working with elderly who have mental health problems

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES **(not prioritised)
- Under supervision to contribute and participate in the assessment, planning, implementation in the evaluation of care
- To preserve the dignity and self respect of service users at all times
- To respect the customs, individuality, value and spiritual beliefs of service users at all times.
- To observe and report any changes in the service user’s health and well being
- To attend staff meetings and review meetings
- To assist service user with all aspects of daily living activities
- **TRAINING**:

- To regularly attend the following mandatory trainings:

- Health and Safety at Work
- Manual Handling
- Fire Safety
- First Aid
- Protection of Vulnerable Adult
- Infection Control
- Dementia care
- Managing Challenging Behaviour
- Other training relevant to role and responsibilities.
- All staff will be enrolled on QCF2
