Based at Bishop Burton in our stunning rural environment this varied and exciting role will be instrumental in the delivery and implementation of sustainability across all areas of the business including our Curriculum, Campus, Workforce and Farm with an ambitious net zero target of 2030.

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Contribute to the development, production and implementation of the College’s sustainability strategy, supporting policies and plans.
- Work with academic and support teams to provide specialist advice to integrate and embed sustainability into operations, strategies, policy and decision making in order to deliver the sustainability strategy.
- Work with colleagues to develop business cases and bids to secure necessary funds to support environmental sustainability.
- Work with colleagues to develop, plan and deliver environmental sustainability projects encompassing buildings, biodiversity, energy, travel and waste.
- Provide feedback on changes in legislation which impact on college operations and activities.
- Report periodically on environmental sustainability development and performance via KPI’s, benchmarking.
- Identify and make recommendations to promote net zero pathways for scope 3 emissions.
- Take part in all staff College events such as Lambing Sunday and Open Farm Sunday.

**Essential Criteria**
- Educated to degree level in an environmental sustainability related discipline.
- Good knowledge of statutory and practical aspects of environmental sustainability
- Demonstrable experience of influencing and encouraging the adoption of new ideas and processes across a wide range of departments
- Experienced in the production of high-quality reports, presentations and policy documents.
- Experience of collecting and analysing data to measure performance and impact
- Ability to setup and co-ordinate sustainability events and initiatives within the college and wider community
- Excellent communication/presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas simply
- Good organisational skills and ability to plan workload
- Knowledge of Child Protection Issues
- Able to form & maintain appropriate relationships & personal boundaries with young people
- Personal and professional commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility
- Able to plan and prioritise work under pressure
- Ability to represent the college in this specialist field
- Excellent networking skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across different teams and a variety of stakeholders
- Motivation to work with children and young people
- Fit for the duties of the post
- Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and appropriate attitudes to use of authority and maintaining discipline

**Desirable Criteria**
- An appropriate professional qualification in an environmental sustainability related discipline.
- Experience of FE/HE or similar complex environments
- Experience of sustainability within a farm environment
- Develop regional and national networks within the education and farming sectors
