We have successfully secured funding from NHS England to extend our liaison and diversion team across the boroughs of Bexley, Greenwich and Bromley. The service was first established in 2012 and currently we provide a liaison and assessment service to two police stations and an assessment service to a magistrate’s court and a crown court. The criminal justice team provide a range of services within the criminal justice pathway including identification, screening and assessment and where appropriate facilitate diversion from custody to the least restrictive setting. We are an all age service which aims to improve health outcomes for detainees through early identification and screening by providing interventions that facilitate timely and appropriate pathways to care.

We are a 7 days a week service which provides compassionate and client-centred care across the boroughs and are proud to deliver high quality services to all our service users, whether mentally ill, personality disordered or behaviourally challenging.

What we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated practitioners to join our dedicated and dynamic team who will work as part of the liaison team with a specific focus on providing safe and effective care in custody.

The criminal justice team provide a range of services within the criminal justice pathway including identification, screening and assessment and where appropriate facilitate diversion from custody to the least restrictive setting. We are an all age service which aims to improve health outcomes for detainees through early identification and screening by providing interventions that facilitate timely and appropriate pathways to care. Role requirements include:

- Knowledge of the forensic pathway throughout all levels of security
- proven track record of delivering outstanding service to service users with complex needs
- excellent team player, able to work closely with different teams within a multi-agency environment.
- To have a knowledge of local service provision
- To be flexible and be able commute across Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich Boroughs
- County Court Judgements
- You need a minimum 3 year residency
- Defaults - No debt management plans in place. Default is allowed but must be satisfied, getting older and not gaining additional Defaults
- Convictions which resulted in imprisonment or suspended sentence

The post holder will be work as part of a team in working with service users across criminal justice pathway who have encountered or experienced mental health difficulties and other recognised vulnerabilities. The purpose of this role is to:

- Provide assessment and implementation of evidence-based interventions for service users who are experiencing common, acute mental health and longer-term recovery needs who have come into contact with the Criminal Justice System
- Provide Court reports as requested
- Follow the individual through to successful signposting
- Optimise the service users’ ability to remain in the community and / or be cared for in the least restrictive environment in line with the principles or recovering and social inclusion.
- Support clinical governance initiatives.
- Identify recognised vulnerabilities and support in recovery pathways.
